In 1962, William F. Ward designed the first Rotary Die Cutter and assembled it in his basement in Lutherville, Maryland. The following year he established the Ward Die-Vise Company in the Falls Road section of Baltimore County.
After changing its name to Ward-Turner Machinery Co. during the acquisition of Flynn & Emrich in 1966, the company moved to its present-day location in Hunt Valley, Maryland in 1969.
2002 saw Barry-Wehmiller acquire Ward Machinery Co. and United Container Machinery Co., previously known as Maryland Co, to create MarquipWardUnited.
